General Description
AAT1118 device provides a boost regulator, two regulated charge pumps, a shutdown function, and an open drain power good output, making the device ideal for powering TFT LCD panels.
The current mode boost regulator provides a fast transient response supply voltage for the source driver ICs. It provides an output voltage up to 15V from input voltages ranging from 2.6V to 5.5V. The boost regulator integrates a low RON (0.28Ω) N-MOSFET, and operates at a fixed switching frequency of 1.32MHz, thereby minimizing board space while providing good efficiency.
The positive and negative charge pump regulators provide supply voltages for the TFT LCD’s gate drivers. Both output voltages can be adjusted with external resistive voltage dividers.
The PGO function is used to monitor the device supply voltage. If any fault is detected, the internal open-drain MOSFET turns off and the output is high impedance. Connect a 100kΩ pull-up resistor between PGO and Input for a logic level output.
The SHDN function disables all three regulators and also the reference when SHDN pin is pulled to low level, and powers up when SHDN pin is at high level. When the device is disabled, the supply current reduces to 0.1µA, reducing power dissipation.
The AAT1118 regulators feature soft-start to prevent output overshoots and inrushes. Built-in power on sequencing allows for system stability. This device includes various protection features such as input under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and over temperature protection (OTP). Regulator outputs include under voltage protection (UVP).
The AAT1118 is available in a compact TSSOP-16 package. The device is rated to operate from –40°C to +85°C ambient temperature range.
